"Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the LORD" Jeremiah 23:24.
Have you ever wanted to be "a fly on the wall"? I have. I would love to be a fly on the wall in Michael's preschool class. I can only imagine what I would see. And I 'd like to see what Todd is like when he is alone with the boys. Thinking about it makes me smile. There are some people who live transparant lives, meaning what you see on the outside is very reflective of how they live behind closed doors. Yet, others live very foggy lives. It is only when a secret is revealed that you really learn something about the life they have been living.
I was reflecting on this as I waited in the van for Michael's speech lesson to finish. What would people say about my life? What would the Lord say about my life? All of my thoughts, actions, desires, etc...are seen by the Lord. He is the fly on the wall in my life, and yours. People can hide from others in secret places, but no one can hide from the Lord. At first this can be a little disturbing, but for someone who loves the Lord, this truth is refreshing.
Remaining in hiding is difficult and painful. It can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Yet, despite the drawbacks, most people are in their "secret places" most of the time. I rejoice in knowing that the Lord sees me when I am in my secret place. His arms strech out to me. The creator of heaven and earth wants to lift me out of hiding and bring me into the light (1 Peter 2:9). And He wants to do the same for you.
Do you live a transparent life or are you stuck in the fog? Either way, the Lord is there with you, and me.
I am thankful for...
1. God being present with me at all times, even when it seems least likely for Him to be there.
2. the improvement in Michael's speech.
3. Daniel's silly attempts at talking.
4. my comfy bedspread.
5. the safe drive through the bad weather this morning.
6. the present under the tree with my name on it.
7. having dinner already prepared...mmmm lasagna...again
8. Todd getting the boys this morning and making the bed.
9. anti-lock breaks
10. the families in our church that have adopted kids. What an amazing sacrifice and gift of love that is.
