Luke 2:11

"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord" Luke 2:11.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays Michael goes to nursey school for a couple of hours, leaving time for Daniel and me to share together. I love this time with my little one. Most of the time is spent napping (and that goes for the both of us on some days!) However, during our "active play" time, we like to roll around on the floor, practice crawling, listen to music, and play with new grab toys. This morning I especially enjoyed the time we had together rocking in the chair right before I put him down for his nappy. I was talking with him about Christmas and why it is so important. I was telling him about Jesus and what He did for us so many years ago...and then I got to thinking. Even little Daniel, at 6 months old, needs a savior, the Savior. He does't need Him because Daniel has commited numerous sins (although he can produce some really stinky farts!). No, he needs Jesus for the same reason that I need Jesus, and that is to bridge the gap between me and God. I can't do that through good works, or thoughts, or massive donations, or numerous volunteer hours, or just being nice, or whatever. There is only one way to the Father and that is through Jesus (John 14:6).

I am so glad Mary was obedient to the Lord when he asked her to put her life aside in order to birth the Messiah. Without Jesus, what do I have, "for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). I hope that is how it is for you too!

I am thankful for...

1. not having to wear a winter coat today.
2. getting my Christmas cards done.
3. having a nice conversation with my sister-in-law, Carey. I wish she didn't live so far away!
4. Todd doing the dishes, as usual.
5. getting the royal treatment at the Honda dealer when I brought my van in to get the tires checked.
6. for the wonderful email I JUST received from Judy Prince. How encouraging!
7. my friend Amy Parrott, who keeps me accountable with scripture memorization and being a woman after God's own heart.
8. my mom and dad having so many really cool friends.
9. Brent and Carol Miller - pseudo-grandparents to James, Daniel, and Michael.
10. BEAR!
