"Great are the works of the Lord. They are pondered by those who delight in them" Psalm 111:2.
I love my husband. He is my best friend. Psalm 111:2 is the first verse he memorized, about 2 years ago, and if you ask him, he'll gladly recite it for you. What he doesn't know is, he is one of the great works of the Lord that I often ponder...and of course, take great delight in doing so. But this verse has more than sentimental value for me. I often find myself pondering the great works of the Lord...the miracles of life. I look forward to my conversation with God during which he will reveal the secrets to life and such. I know I could easily go to scientists and gain scientifically intellectual answers for the "wows" of life, but I eagerly await to meet with the designer Himself. Sometimes I feel guilty for taking time out of my day to ponder, but it is necessary to do so. We need to set aside time to discover God's glory and bask in His radience. We must delight in what He has given us.
I have to admit that when Todd first picked this verse to memorize, I was rather dismayed. Why couldn"t he pick a power verse, a thriller, you know, a verse that makes you step back and take notice. But I have come to realize that Psalm 111:2 is complete with a dignity and beauty of its own. Through this verse, God gently reminds us of the creation He has made for his children.
I am thankful for...
1. not knowing all of the answers (or even most of them) and finding it necessary to lean on the Lord in every circumstance.
2. learning that it is the Lord upon whom I should lean.
3. Anu arriving safely into Charlotte tonight.
4. Todd coming home early today.
5. yummy homemade lasagna.
6. my neighborhood having a CHRISTMAS party.
7. not needing to receive a lot of gifts for Christams, but rather knowing what the true gift of Christmas really is.
8. oreo cookies.
9. the good time I have giving Michael and Daniel their baths every night.
10. how much my dad loves my mom.
