Matthew 7:4

"How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?" Matthew 7:4

I was reminded of this verse today as I was steaming over what somebody else in my life is doing. How could this person be so inconsiderate and hurtful to family and friends? I just don't get it. I don't know about you, but when I start thinking like this, I also start thinking about how great I am; how I would never do something that bad. And if I did, I would certainly recognize it and stop immediately, asking for forgiveness from all I hurt. It is a very slippery slide, this thing called pride. I have to admit, the plank in my eye is pretty big, and my sins and faults are no less damaging than anyone else's. Damaging, that is, to my relationship with Christ. Instead of "steaming", I need to do some "teaming". I need to team up with Christ and live my life according to His will. By doing this, I will remain focused on Him rather than on other people.

I am thankful for...

1. the fun three-way phone call that my mom, Nonnie, and I had this morning.
2. getting some of my Christmas shopping done yesterday.
3. the neighbor boy, Noah, passing his blackbelt test...GO NOAH!
4. Michael waking up from his nap and then going back to sleep.
5. Todd's mom coming to visit us this weekend.
6. Christmas cards...hopefully we'll get ours out soon.
7. how comfy my bed is.
8. how cute Todd is when he pretends to put deodorant on Michael so that he can feel like a big boy.
9. how strong Daniel is getting.
10. the yummy chicken pot pie I had for dinner last night.

Amy,

Todays blog spoke to my heart! I am so guilty of this sometimes! Thank you for your words and thoughts on this issue...it helped stir some important reflection in myself. God is using you and Sarah to remind some of us of His Will in our lives.

God Bless,

Joe
